Am I too late for BRB breeding season?

harikrishna Apr 27, 2004 08:43 PM

I'm FINALLY getting a male for my female BRB (Summer) tomorrow morning. Do you think I have time to breed them or is the season over? Thanks

Harikrishna,
. I have had BRBs mate as late as may and lay babies in late october. To me it seems unlikely that both your female and the male that you are getting are going to be ready for breeding at the same time this late in the season. It also may be a mistake to not quarantine the new snake for several months before letting it near your female.
Good Luck,
Jeff

My BRB's bred last fall and just the past week, my males stopped feeding and are in season again! This is the first group of BRB's that I'm breeding but have bred regular boas for many years. I've had boas born almost every month of the year. Most depends on temps, light cycle and misting practices. I've had animals go into breeding mode from being shipped! Temps or pressures or something triggers it! Captive borns are much less seasonal breeders than WC's.
