? about shelf liner

gizmoe1 Apr 27, 2004 09:16 PM

My beardie had been on shelf liner for about six months and I absolutly love it. It is easy to clean and I don't have to worry about impaction. Since he has been on it though he has developed a weird habit. He won't poo inside his cage! He will seriously hold it until I take him out. Just recently he hadn't went to the bathroom for about three weeks. So yesterday I took him out to go to the vet and within 10 minutes of being out of his cage he went. (I took him to the vet anyway and got a fecal- everything is clean). This isn't the first time he has done this, as a matter of fact it has been going on ever since I put him on the shelf liner. The vet has no idea hwy he is doing this. I guess he just doesn't want to poo on the liner. I know it isn't healthy for him to hold in his poo like that, but I don't want to let him keep going in my living room. Has anyone else had their beardies react this way to the liner? Do you think I should use a different substrate? Any Suggestions?
