I myself used sand for four years before switching to slate. However, there have been many problems linked to using sand as a substrate. No, I don’t have proof of this myself, I just trust in other who do.
"The people on this forum are paranoid about and inexperienced in the use of sand as a caging substrate, so I'd pretty much ignore them." For you to call everyone inexperienced because they care enough about their animals to not want to take a chance is extremely inconsiderate. Also what is there to be experienced about in the use of sand? it's not very difficult. Maybe we are being paranoid but I would rather be safe than sorry.
"I'm not going to say more as I'm tired of continually typing on this subject matter." I think we all are. In any case we all also know the pros and cons of sand. When people like lint come here not knowing about them I don’t think it is a bad thing for people to want to inform them. I want the best for all of my animals and hopefully so does everyone else.
Post pictures of your set up here. I am not biased against sand, just choose not to use it. I love coming here and getting neat ideas from other peoples set ups. Please don't take this bad, I just don't like being called paranoid, biased, and inexperienced because I have chosen to be cautious.
