Hi Jen,

Just FYI, that is not a Borneo short-tailed python (Python breitensteini), rather, it is a red blood python (Python brongersmai). Lovely snake either way!!!

Hello,
Just in case you don't believe her (and Kara knows her stuff), that is for sure, a "Red Blood" and not a Borneo short-tail. Nice looking one too! All the best with it.

That is cool. He was sold to me as a borneo...i thought that red blood meant the color phase. Could you explain the difference? P.S kara's advice was VERY helpful to me, he has eaten 4 mice since that post!

If you look at the snakes mouth he has scales on his "lips"

on a BORNEO STP there will be a large lip scale that comes up the the eye, seperated by smaller scales along the bottom of the eye.

On a blood the lip scale will go all the way up to the bottom of the eye.

If you want a website where they show pics, email me (It's another forum, where I asked the same question!) It's great pics.

I to was sold a "Borneo" but after looking at the pics, and looking at the scalation pattern on the top of the head, he is a blood python, not a borneo stp.
