My Lost Gecko

sirfugu Apr 28, 2004 02:23 PM

I posted on here a few days ago about my lost gecko and i still have had no luck in finding him whatsoever. Ive turned the house upside down but i still cant find the little buggar. I'm afraid he may not have much of a chance if i dont find him soon. My cat may get to him before i do. What i wanted to ask is how long can leos go without drinking? Also I have a few pics posted of his enclosure right after i put the tile in. I actually saw him licking the sand so i went right out and bought him some nice tiles to live on. The problem is that the jungle gym thing came off the ground and what my most logical reasoning for him being missing is that he has crawled up there (it is hollow all the way through inside) and got stuck somehow. i let some crickets loose in there and havent seen them so maybe this means something. im not sure. Its been two days and id give anything to see him again. what do you guys think?

By jungle gym thing are you talking about that fake brown looking stone item that stands tall in your tank?.

yeah. didnt know what else to call it. It what he normally hides and climbs around on.

Hi

If the whole thing is hollow like you said it is and it tiped up far enough for him to get up into it then, there is a chance that he could be in it.

Try taking some sort of plyable matterial, but with a little bit of stiffness to it like (tubing for air hoses in fish tanks) and slowly start to run that through your hollow stone item and see if it hits something solid, other than a joint in the thing and maybe you can tell by that if he is in there.

Ive put some serious thought into that and may try it tonite. My dad used a mirror on a stick and shined a light up there but didnt see anything. i think i might try that again tonite and find something to probe up there with and hopefully i wont jab him in the eye or something. thanks for your thoughts

Hi..what i would do in that case is to cut two equal length strings that run exactly the lenghth of the jungle gym...or one part of it...then tie one of the strings onto a very small washer or sinker..then turn the gym upside down and let gravity work its way down thru the gym...of course u will have to be maneuvering the gym so the washer can fall through it easily...if there is still additional length which the string shouldn't have *given that ur gym is completely hollow*...then u know u hit something that doesn't belong there! GOod luck!

We had one missing for 3 weeks and she is just fine, although I don't have a cat. My wife had felt the remote coming down on her leg and went to pick it up and it was the gecko! good luck!

You can never have just one gecko. Actually it is almost impossible to have two
