BUILDING MY OWN CAGE GALVANIZED VS. PVC

SCHWARTZENSTOBE Apr 28, 2004 02:34 PM

HELLO,EVERYONE,I AM BUILDING A CAGE FOR MY JACKSON AND I WAS AT HOME DEPOT TODAY AND SAW PVC COATED AND GALVANIZED HARDWARE CLOT. I WAS WONDERING WHICH IS BETTER? THE GALVANIZED HAD SMALL OPENINGS AND THAT WOULD BE IDEAL IN CASE OF CRICKETS ESCAPING.ALSO CAN I MAKE A WHOLE CAGE OUT OF THIS STUFF LIKE THE PLANS ON THE CHAMELEON JOURNALS PLANS?THANKS IN ADVANCE MATT

I'd go with the PVC wire mesh. Preferably either 1" x 1/2" or 1/2" x 1/2". I'm in the process of building a cage out of this material as well. It's better for your chams, in my opinion. Better air circulation and it won't harm your chams foot pads or toes. Plus if you were to make a cage from this material, it's all you'd need pretty much. That, some cutters and industrial zip-ties. With the fine screen, you'd need wood and other things.
