AAHH! Too much poop!

geckogrl6 Apr 28, 2004 02:53 PM

I have younger (8-9mo.?) female that came me very skinny. She is doing better, eating a lot, but when she eliminates herself, it is huge! i've have the vet look @ it twice, and she does not have any parasites. Vet says for some reason, she's not digesting properly, but can't tell me why. She's eating every day now, while the rest only every 3 days, and she always wants more. Any ideas?

Hi

Question for you, do you dust her food with calcium and also keep a cap of straight calcium in her tank 24/7?.

One more question, what size food do you feed her.

I'm dusting everything, but can't keep a dish in there b/c she's kept on wet paper towels per vet for skin problem. She's about 30 grams, and I'm guessing her age by size.

Hi

No, I wouldn't try the earth worms on her for feeding. You probably know already that waxworms shouldn't be feed on a daily basis.

What kind of skin problem did the vet. say she has?. Also, is your vet. a reptile vet.?.

you and lilroach are right. no earthworms. She had a severe skin infection that had gone systemic when I got her. She was on antibiotics for 4 weeks, lost half a toe, silver sulfa cream, the works. Infection has cleared, but the silver cream made her skin thicker, and she has had problems shedding everytime. It's gradually getting better with lots of help but not all the way there yet. Yes, it's reptile vet, and she treats all my animals. I was lucky to find two good ones within 45 minutes drive.

Sorry, she is eating waxworms, mealworms, and full size crickets. Doesn't seem to have any trouble swallowing. May try some earthworms, she'll eat anything. See my post on feeder forum on gutloading them.
