The care and everything is identical for both, but Gargoyle babies should not be kept together because they will fight and lose tails, etc. That said, if you plan to house them in the same cage, I would go with Cresteds. Gargoyles are also not as arboreal and aren't quite as prolific (breeding wise) as Cresteds.
I also like Cresteds a little better because of the endless possibilities with their colors and patterns, etc.
As for price, Gargoyles range from about $60 up to several hundred dollars. Crested Geckos start a little cheaper ($35-40 or so for rather plain looking babies) and can go all the way up to $1,000 for exceptionally nice adults. If you haven't already, try the classifieds to get an idea of prices and what to expect.
