BeArDyCrAzY Jun 15, 2003 04:09 PM

I'm incubating my new leo eggs @ about 85 degrees. At this temp how long will it take for the eggs to hatch? and at that temp, what will the sex of the gecko's be? (it's my first time breeding geckos/incubating eggs...i'm so excited)

You'll probably get a mixture of both sexes at that temperature. They'll probably hatch between 40-60 days maybe.

I incubate my eggs for female, and they hatch anywhere between 50 and 60 days. I keep them at about 81 or 82 degrees.

I am incubating mine at between 80-85 so it should take 45-50 days till the hatch date of mine...it will probably be the same time for your eggs too.

approx 80 to 82 deg will produce almost entirely females. 88 to 90 deg will produce almost all males. 85 deg will produce about half-n-half males/females.

At 80 deg, it takes 55 to 60 days. at 90 deg it takes approx 35 days.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Did you make your own incubator or buy a commercial one?

Very cool!! I made mine too! It's working great so far and I already have five eggs cooking. It's my first time incubating the eggs. The first eggs were put in on 5/28 at 81 deg. I don't expect them to hatch till early Aug.

Here's one of the eggs at 10 days

I use perlite and am following Albey's incubation methods and have been doing well. You can hold the eggs as long as you are gentle and don't keep them out of the warm humidity for long.

My dad (jjay) and I use vermiculite also.
