Mole kings.

Conrad Apr 28, 2004 04:42 PM

I came across a male mole king the other day on an outing. Now, up untill now, I've heard of a decent sized moke king being a couple of feet long, and the biggest I've found was around 24". However, this fella was a sweet 38" long. He's not a red like I've been finding, but a gorgeous tan/biege color. I also cam across a DOR one that was gray with black saddle markings. I'll try to get some pictures of the male up soon so that everyone can enjoy him too.

My reference lists average adult length at 30-40 inches, with a record of 47. Still, it's interesting to find one over 3 feet where you've never seen one over about 2. Nice find!

Definately...wow...up to 40" huh? Well, I know now. I need to get around to getting his pictures up on here so I can share them with you all. I'm hoping to find another red this year. I found one late last summer that I was planning on keeping around, and he took to fuzzy sized f/t mice right away, except that he escaped...and he was just small enough to fit out a small opening along the doorway in my snake building I believe, otherwise he would have been easy to find with the way I have things set up. Up untill that guy, I had never seen one in person, now I've found four, two DORs and two live finds between late summer '03 and this spring.
