incubators?

lucille Apr 28, 2004 05:00 PM

What do y'all use? I see people talking about their Hovabators; I have a set of bottom warmed racks with plastic sweater boxes (these are usually used for housing snakes) that I could put vermiculite in and I have an extremely accurate thermostat controller on the way. What would you choose or what do you have?

As long as you can keep the temp constant and the humidity up it really doesn't matter which one you use. The hovabators are inexpensive and work, but I'd be tempted to use the new thermostat also, especially if it's one of the pulse proportional that you can dial within a tenth of a degree. You could always hook the new thermostat up to a hovabator also, if it's one that will handle more than 1 probe.

I use a Hovabator and I am happy with it so far. It has kept the temps so far. I have heard that the built in Thermostat on haovabators commonly quit working. I say use the current system you have ( the sweater boxes) and just monitor the temps closely. Remember to set it all up and get the temps correct before she lays her eggs. You don't want to be adjusting the temps while the eggs are in there.

Also, Where did you get your Thermostat? I need to get a good one for my Hovabator.
