football9755 Apr 28, 2004 05:06 PM

Today i came home and decided to check on my preg corn and i find 4 eggs (2ish). Now there are 12 eggs and it looks like 3 are on the way. Im happy. Also when i incubate the eggs do i out them in a box with a lid over it? And if so do i put holes in it or what ?

Thanks
Chuck

P.S. Pictures are on the way.

Congrats! Yes, you need to put a lid on top of the box or else all damp will fly away. You need high humidity. But you need to make holes or else all eggs will die. They continue to grow untill they hatch so they do need the air..

dont seperate the eggs. place them in moist vermiculite. for clutches with some eggs higher then others you might want to add a bit of moist spanish moss on top to keep the elevated eggs hydrated.

i have 20 incubating right now and another 14 i just found.but any ways i take a rectangle shape plastic container from target, pound some holes on the lid-fill it halfway with vermiculite.take the container and fill with water-swish it aroung with hands-then carefully draine out water-so vermiculite is just damp-then i dig in the vermiculite to make spots for eggs-make sure eggs are halfway buried-then i put a napkin on top of eggs-place lid on top-every 2-3 days open lid if napkin is dry add a little water in the corners.i have my containers sitting in a 10 gallon tank with a light bulb shinning on them-this makes my temp 80-87.hope this helps ,sorry so long.
