Basking problems

turtlemoon Apr 28, 2004 05:42 PM

Ever since I moved my turtles into their new tank they haven't been basking at all. I may have missed them doing it today, but they always seem to be in the water. I'm scared they are both going to get shell rot How long can a turtle go without basking? I'm using the same lights and basking ramp. I'm hoping tomorrow I'll catch them doing yoga on their rock.

Try lowering the water temperature. Also, go to W@lm@rt and get a timer for your lights so they shut off at night. This will get them on a regular day/night cycle. Also, try leaving for a couple hours then sneak back in for a look. Since I moved, I havent seen my turtles bask either, but when I get home, they usually are jumping in the water from the basking area.

Thanks so much. I turned down the water temp a bit, and I snuck in and caught them basking away.
