Two sexually mature males who can see each other. Will they stress one another out?

wideglide Apr 28, 2004 06:04 PM

I have two mails which, if one gets in just the right spot can see the other. If you have seen me post this question before please keep reading.

The big male just sits there and doesn't seem to be bothered at all but the smaller male obviously wants to fight. The small male will go to the spot where he can see the big mail and turn his beard black and head bob aggressively over and over again and the big male seems to just ignore him.

The big male finally got fed up and started bobbing. It was a different bob like up, pause, then down, pause then back up. His beard didn't turn black.

I had a similar situation a while back but I don't think the smaller male was fully sexually mature yet. He wasn't nearly as aggressive. For fear of stressing one of them I ended up blocking the spot where they could see each other for a few weeks and the smaller dragon seemed to get bored so I unblocked the spot about a week ago. It seems to livened up the smaller dragon a little, well, actually quite a bit because he is continually occupied by wanting to fight the big guy.

Anyway, my question is even though they cannot get to each other do you think one or both will might get stessed out because of this behavior?

Thanks for any help!!!

Hey Rob, I would think that the constant head bobbing is a sign of stress. I would block the view. BTW the slower, push up style bobs are usually a submissive gesture.

are they both eating well? any other signs of stress besides the bobbing? I would say as long as they eat and poop well it would not be a problem, it keeps the day from getting boring.
