The following list is other substrates I would like to test or have tested what do you think of them and should I try or not. If the following is not good for my snake what else can I use them for?

I am now using Repticaret for my BP's cause I am affraid to to take the risk of them getting an Respritory Infection. I would rather use ASPEN SHAVINGS but it is dusty and may be a cause of an R.I. I have heard that Cypress Mulch is good as well but it is hard to come by here and again I am scared that this mulch being that it hold humidity is a better home for parasites such as mites. I have a large iguana that I use corn cob with. I use this case it s cheap. But does mold easily. I change it ever other day to cut down on the spread of parasites, desease, ect. People swear by newspapaer but that is to reduce the risk of bedding digestion. Repticarpet is a good choice but have 2 peices available! Aspen is a good choice as welli use this for all my other snakes but BP have a very sensitive respritory tract. EVERYONE HELP US OUT HERE what do you all think? And also post to let us know what you decided to go with!!!!

www.thatpetplace.com Has it and is always cheap! I am not too sure on how well it holds moisture. If your using it for your ball too humid is bad for it. But it is easy to clean, just use a bleach suloution and water soak and scrub. But to reduce stress have 2 peices one to place in the cage while cleaning! What bedding are you using now?

What is too humid for a Ball? They live in very humid burrows in the wild.

Mine love the humidity, and look much better with lots of it (CYPRESS MULCH).

From what ive read that balls requir a 50-65% of humidity, and being said too wet/humid of an enclosure can lead to blisters, skin infections and also respritory problems. Moisture is home to many organisms great and small and is an easy way have desaese and parasites spread. The skin on a snake will look more eye pleasing with a very humid enclousr i agree. As so does a car look befor it is dried after a wash, or how smooth our hands look after a wash as well. Untile dry do we see the imperfections. As of the balls linving in most burrows that is true but they are from a dry arid reigin. When out hunting, sun bathing ect they tend to dehydrate through their daily activities. And when in resting in burrows they prefer dampness to "regenerate" their skin. Thats why most people like aspen with a hide moist hide spot. But everyone dont take what I say "to the bank" I am closley to an amatur in my eyes. I am as well TEST DRIVING bedding, and as well fluxuating humidity to see what works well. I supose that is enough of my rambling. Sorry to bother :P

Keep it 50-60% during non shed and up to 70% during shed. They don't need (and should be) always in a wet substrate - too many potential problems. You can just add a humid hide.

I don't wet my carpet. If I ever want to spray, I spray the back wall and the plants hanging on it - not the carpet. I don't want my guy crawling on wet carpet and getting scale rot, etc.

It's so easy to clean - I opt for the safer cleaning method. Clean with hot soapy water, rinse, disinfect with Nolvasan/Virosan (totally safe, no need to worry if not totally rinsed out and dried like bleach), rinse and dry. Just keep a second piece on hand like stated before so your BP can get his clean piece right away and not have to wait.

I use ESU's Lizard Liner carpet. I love it! Looks good and easy to clean.

As already stated, and as in every caresheet you read - no cedar.
