Extra Red!

They look nice
Where can I get one like that red? Can you help me?
Thanks
Charlie
These are absolutely beautiful! Aren't redfoots great in every respect?
Did you breed these babies?
Gaby
Yes, I agree completely. I've only worked with a few species of tortoises, but the Redfoots have a special place in my heart. They have so much personality - they're just plain fun.
These babies hatched here between April 6th and April 10th.
I've got another litter of four that hatched in late March. Having eight of these guys at once is incredible for me. There is nothing in the world like walking over to their enclosures and seeing 8 little heads pop up and then ramble over to greet you.
Most of the pictures are taken during their nightly bath and playtime session. A little papaya and collards is about the only way that I can get them to stay in one place long enough for a picture.
Here's another group shot of the younger bunch.
Thanks,

All I can say Mike Greathouse is that they are beautiful. I really want to get one now.
A lot of people are calling them cherry Red foot but don't have a lot of red.
Can you help me?
Thanks
Charlie
Charlie,
Most of the babies will be available in the near future. I don't offer them for sale until they are completely established. Besides, I enjoy them too much right now.
I have a waiting list for a couple of these, but the others will be made available. If you would like to be added to the waiting/notify list, I'll be happy to do so. This would allow you to choose from the available animals prior to them being offered for sale. Just send me an email stating that you want to be on the notify list for the Redfoots. I can be reached at mike@reptiliandreams.com
The first group that hatched in late March will be available in another couple of weeks. You can see additional pictures of them at my website - just follow the link below.
The second group (pictured in this thread) will be at least a couple of weeks behind the first group.
Just a note as this always comes up: These are NOT what are typically considered Cherry Head Redfoots. The Cherry Head designation usually refers to a dwarf form of redfoot. My animals are the normal form. They just consistently produce offspring with bright red markings.
Thank you for your interest.
Mike Greathouse
Thanks for more pictures, Mike! I'll never get tired of looking at nice redfoots, especially hatchlings. It is very nice, that you get such a variety in carapace markings in just one clutch.
I hope very much to experience breeding these guys one day. But for now my oldest ist 4 years old and I have two one year olds and a seven months old.
One thing is for sure though,- they are so enjoyable at any age!
Thanks again for sharing your pictures and experience (b.t.w. Love your website!),
Gaby
Gaby,
There is nothing in the world like watching these guys emerge from the egg. You always feel like passing out cigars.
The only difficult part of the equation is parting with them - they are so endearing that you become immediately attached.
Besides my adult pair, I've got two youngsters on the way up (one 3 year-old and one 4 year-old. They are both a direct result of not being able to part with babies. The 3 year-old was the only surviving egg of a particular clutch and hatched on Christmas day. There was just no way to let him go.
I've already got my eye on one of the little ones in the 2nd clutch that I have now. It's a pretty good bet that he'll remain a permanent resident here as well.
Thanks for the kind words and I'm sure there will be many more photos to come. These guys are just too much fun!
Mike Greathouse...
