Concerned about eggs!!

jesseter Apr 28, 2004 06:49 PM

I just had my female Pytch die yesterday. I have 5 of her eggs in the incubator. I really want them to hatch!! There are 2 out of the 5 eggs that should hatch soon! They have been cooking for about 42 days now. Temps set at 89 degrees. Humidity at about 85%. Lifted the lid on the container for a like a minute once a week. Sunday night I saw them both sweating. Yesterday and today I look in and they are dented in. I know they were fertile becuase I saw the veins when I candled them. I am afraid that they tried to hatch Sunday and just couldn't make it. I may just be a worry wort, but after losing Pytch I don't want lose her little ones too!! Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

There is probably nothing to worry about. As long as the eggs are not REALLY dented in, then they're fine. Often, my eggs dent about a week before hatching. If they have been at a constant 89 degrees then they should be hatching pretty soon. What ever you do, don't force them to hatch and just wait patiently.

One of ours is sweating, too! It's cool! The egg has thinned enough that, when I picked it up to candle it, I could feel the baby moving. It was WAY cool!

But I really just wish it'd go ahead and HATCH!!!
