What age can you tell the sex?

Just curious at what age you can tell the sex....I want to get another one, but need to know what I have no....the one I have is about 5 months old?

Cheryl,

At 5 months, it's tough to tell because males usually develop their bulge between 5-7 months of age. It's right at that age where it could look female one night and then the bulge will start to show the next. The good news is that you don't have much longer until you find out. Of course, if it's a male, you're going to spend a lot of money for a sexable female.

Because females are so expensive, my advice would be to buy babies and raise them up. That's the most cost effective way to get a breeding group together. It takes longer that way, but in the end, you will have learned about raising young ones and you'll end up with a larger and possibly a better looking adult group. Besides that, nobody gets rid of exceptional looking sexed ones unless they are offered a lot of money for them.

That's just my .02, though.

My two babies didn't show any signs of bulges until they were about six months old, at that thime the other developed in maybe a few weeks big bulges under his tail. The other baby still looks like female. They are now about eight moths old.
