Sleepy Dragon

I have a lethargic sleepy Central Beardy (Chompa).

About 3 months ago my son put a shoe box in the cage. Chompa promptly curled up inside the box and seemed to start to hibernate. I let it go for a couple of weeks thinking he knows what’s good for him, but given it was summer a very warm (35 )I didn’t think it was a good idea to let it go on. We took the box out of the cage but now he curls up in the corner or for days on end. If stimulated ie with live food or a run around the house he seems fine.

He gets plenty of natural sun vitamins and calcium. The lights are on during the day both heat and UV (it’s not all that cold yet). I’ve taken him to the VET (reptile specialist) and he says he looks fine.

I had many of Eastern Beardies and other species when I was a kid, and thought I’d seen it all. Not sure what’s going on with this guy, any suggestions?

every BD is different, it could be husbandry, could be the BD. I have one BD that would not eat and just curled up in the corner. All the husbandry was right but nothing. I moved him to a different cage where he was with several other BDs and in a larger enclosure. His color perked up and he started eating like there was no tomorrow. Why? I dont know but it made a world of difference.

What is your husbandry like? temps? cage size? lighting?
