For those of you who've followed my troubles with breeding my mare for the past two years....the vet called this morning, and SHE IS PREGNANT!
Woo hoo!
She's a 12 year old Peruvian Paso. She will be foaling in about 340 days! LOL!

2 Iguanas, 3 Beardies, 1 Saharan/Nigerian Uromastyx, 1 Leo, 1 African Fat Tail, 1 Columbian Rainbow Boa, 1 Fla Garter Snake, 1 Banded California King Snake, 1 Corn Snake, 3 Fire Belly Toads, 1 Eastern Painted Turtle, 1 African Sideneck, 2 Horses, 4 cats, 1 dog, and I'm still not done.....
I spent $5000 last summer and when I got her back, she was barren (still not pregnant) and she had been badly neglected. I switched stallions and stallion managers and vets...and on the FIRST TRY she took, no problem.
I am sure if everything is okay with your mare, she will take on the first go round. AI is actually a lot more effective than natural cover.
Have you heard of Thunder Valley Stables? I think they're in WI and they have two drop-dead gorgeous studs...one is like 16.2 and the other is a little over 17 hands. I have videos of them and was going to breed her to one of them, but opted to get a purebred horse out of her....but if all goes well on this time, I may breed her in another year or two (via AI) with the larger of the two Fresians.
Anyway, GOOD LUCK and let me know when you find out if your mare is "GRAVID" or not! LOL! ;0)
I'll never switch Studs. I actually went out to Cali and Met the Stallion owner and got to Ride the Stud!!! What a DREAM! If You want to see him, Check out www.friesianforest.com . His Name is Darktanion.
I Might switch Vets if it doesn't work this time cause the group I use are a bunch of Morons who can't get their act together.... Not that I'm annoyed with them or anything.... LOL
I'll be sure to Post with Results on Weds!
