Fluffy's new burrow, is it ok? or too secluded??

xitch45 Apr 28, 2004 10:15 PM

I redid fluff's cage, it is now the soil mix 50/25/25(top soil/sand/vermiculite) and i made a burrow. It is a rubbermaid tub with a dryer hose connected and turning up. He seems to like it, today was first full day with it, and he didnt come out. I suspect this is because it did not heat up. After a few days he should start coming out. My question is is it too humid?!? is there enough air so he can breathe??

Thanks in advance!!!!

It's hard to tell from the picture where the entrance is or how big it is. My guess is that there is enough air. Humidity? Can you check it with something? Even those dial indicators from a pet store are better than nothing. As for coming out, it could be from warming up (lack thereof) but my guess is that, if he's indoors, it's not getting so cold that he won't come out to warm up. He'll come out when he's comfy with his new surroundings. When ever I change out my sand, usually one or two of the uros don't come out all the next day. On the flip side, when not changing the sand, sometimes they're sticking their heads out and looking around before the heat and lights come on.

How much humidity would be acceptable for a burrow, and on the other hand, how much humidity is good for the overall cage? I'll get back to you on the humidity inside/outside of burrow when I get home (i'm at school now).
