Greetings fellow collared lovers,

Hi i just found this forum, right on! i can't find much info about collared lizards. I've had mine for about 3 months and he's doin great (I think it's a he...). My only trouble is a small piece of his tail will not come off when he sheds and he's growing so fast that i'm afraid it will start cutting off the circulation to his tail! (oh no!!!). Well anyway if u guys have any suggestions it would be cool.

try soaking it in warm water. It should help loosen up the dead skin. May take more than one soaking.

also if soaking alone does not work, try rubbing mineral oil on the spots that are being difficult. it did wonders for my boy. and by the way if you scroll down the main collared lizard page you will see 2 posts, one with a picture of a male vent and one with a female vent, posted by the lovely eve. they should be pretty helpful in identifying the sex

As Vonnie said, mineral oil works awesome, just a dab really softens, the skin. And its worth buying a bottle (sometimes less than a dollar) and keeping it in you lizard care product line, hehehehehe !

And as everyone already said, eastern collareds can be super colorful !

Again nice to have ya join the bunch, LOL but we need some pics of your collareds so we can get to know them also,
