calcium dish

Nicko Jun 15, 2003 05:10 PM

I see on here that some people put Calcium/Vitamin D3 powder in a dish in the terranium. If you do this, do you still have to dust the insects when you give them to him? Also, will he just eat enough as he needs or do you have to regulate how much you give them?

I keep a calcium dish in all the gecko enclosures at all times. I also dust crickets with a calcium and a vitamin powdered supplement.

When I feed my geckos I just put in a bunch of mealworms or crickets. They will eat as much as they want. With the crickets I keep a small dish of gut-load food, so that the crickets eat that instead of picking at the gecko, if there are any crickets that were not eaten.

I keep a dish of minerall in my leos' tank 24/7 and also put some minerall into their mealies' gutload so my leos are pretty covered when it comes to getting their vitamins and minerals.
But I will be dusting the hatchlings mealies every other feeding since they are growing and may not use a calcium dish like an adult will.
