New kitten likes mealworms LOL

RedQuake Apr 29, 2004 08:08 AM

Ok so my first lesson has been learned. You CANNOT hold a kitten and try to pick out mealworms at the same time. LOL

I got my insect order yesterday and had dumped one of the mealworm containers into a tray so i could pick them out and put them into the indiviual feeding cups i have for each tank. Sasha our very new and adorable kitten went nuts.....Needless to say poor old Red has scratches all over her arms LOL

I got my dad to get me up early yesterday and unbeknown to him or the rest of the family i headed out, first to pick up coffees and then to the pet store to pick up Sasha. When i got home i walked in first with the coffees (knew my mom would be awake by then) and when she asked "what did you get this time" i handed her the coffee and told her i loved her and.......well the meowing gave the cat away LOL.

My entire family has fallen in love with her and my dad EVEN said if there was still one left that was all alone at the store since we now have one why not two. I called the store but Sashas brother is on hold *pout*. I still can't believe my father suggested that.

Anyways, i thought i'd have the trouble of keeping a cat down here with the geckos but nope.....my brother fell in love (well both brothers did) but the youngest one has decided that Sasha should stay with him LOL.

Oh the joys of new pets.....my parents are going away for a week as an anniversary gift to themselves but said they might have to stay for fear the house will be a zoo when they return LOL

17 geckos, 2 dogs, 1 cat and at least 1000 guppies......... so far hehehe

I never thought to feed worms to our hamsters when we had them hehehe....

I'm thinking Sasha was interested in the movement of them more than anything. She's been so adorable this morning chasing stuff. My dog hasn't reacted well to her at all though. He gets very hyper and freaks out. She just hisses at him and he goes running. Our other dog, sniffed her then shock his head and has pretty much left her alone. She's in a pen upstairs most of the time so the dogs can't get to her and superivsed when they are around downstairs.

I'm rather curious to see how she reacts to my dads fish and my geckos. She didn't pay any attention to them yesterday when i had her in here. The worms were of greater interest. Hopefully it stays that way hehe

Hi

Somehow, even if it is a disposable kind of camera, keep one around at all time, near the fish tank. Maybe not now, but when that cat gets older she will probably at some given time try to stick her paw into your dad's fish tank and you will have one great picture to take.

I'm glad you got a cat like you have been wanting for so long, I'm a dog person myself.

I'm going to stock up film for sure now. I'm also buying a good digital camera so we'll have lots of pics shortly hehehe. Her current antics have created nothing but non stop laughter around here.

My small dog is so jealous that we have to make sure to give him lots of attention. I had put Sasha on the couch so she could play a bit running from one side to the other hiding behind pillows...my dog came up and freaked......so i started petting him and he calmed right down and sat quietly. That is until Sasha leaped out from behind a pillow right at him LOL. I think he wants to play with her as his tail is always wagging and his bark is quite whiny compared to his *theres someone at the door* bark.

Ummmmmm as i'm typing Dot, Nala and Lily just came out of hiding and are all playing on the hammock.....weird. usually they aren't out this time of day nor all of them at once on the hammock.

The fish tanks are in a part of the house that is pretty much open for the cat to explore....no real way to block it off. Luckily my gecko room has a door so hopefully i won't find her in here unsupervised around the geckos. I am going to start training her now though so she knows that the geckos are off limits. I'm thinking that if she sees them enough and is taught that they are a *NO* maybe she won't be so fascinated with them if no one is around.

I'm also a dog person, we have two, but both small breeds. I'd actually like to get a larger dog again. My father has said this as well and was even tempted to bring home a lab pup. My mother said, when i brought home the cat, that it doesn't seem fair that my brothers don't have pets of their own while i have 17 geckos. She suggested i take the boys to the next reptile show and see if they would be interested in something. The older of the two wants a tarantula (sp?). The younger one is having a blast with the cat although he didn't sleep much last night with her playing with her toys (i bought ones with bells inside hehehe).

I want my gecko room to be a display room where everyone can come down and hang out, enjoying them as i do. I kinda wish they weren't all confined down here. It would be cool if i could find a place upstairs to at least keep my crested geckos so everyone can see them (then again the cat might be a problem LOL).

I'll be working on rearranging the gecko room furniture so that the couch isn't against the 8ft unit anymore. Its an absolute pain to get to the boys tanks (Boo & Bronx) when i have to stand on the couch lol

Hi

You watch (grin), if you take your brothers to the next reptile show, I'll bet they will want to pick out a couple reptiles that will get really big and your parents will freak. (grin).

I also have seventeen geckos of my own, just for pets. Well actually three of them are AFT. geckos, then we have one toy poodle and I also have some fish and several of them are fancy tailed guppy's.

Take Care, TLB

Ya i'm kinda worried about taking them hehe, but my mom said she'd come this time too. That will keep them in line for sure......then again i thought the same thing of my father but he was the one who encouraged me to buy another leo.

My 17 geckos include 3 crested geckos and 2 aft's, the rest of them are leos, with one egg in the incubator. I've re-organized the gecko room and now i have lots of room for more.....hehehe...but i'm holding off for now. I'm happy to spend time with the ones i have.

My dads fish are all fancy tailed guppies. They are so colourful too. His tanks are impressive. I'm hoping to set mine up again so i can steal of few of his beauties
