Please help! New whites tree frog

Julie22 Apr 29, 2004 10:05 AM

I just got my first frog, a Whites tree frog. When I brought him home and put him in his tank he was a light shade of green. But by night, he was completely brown. Is this sudden color change normal? Could it be stress? Also, I noticed that on his back and legs, among the brown color is green spots of the color he originally was.
Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

its normal! they change color according to thier environment, you prolly have a purple night light for him or something that he is changing to, my red eyes do the same thing at night! their green wile sleeping during the day, but purple at night! it could be strees though; if he is that color during the day, then it very well could be stres, also i think that you sould buy a book or something on the whites tree frogs because almost all of the care sheets that i have read have mentioned the fact of changing colors, make sure you learn as much as possible before purchasing! i hope you know what your doing!! good luck!
