I noticed the conversation about the artificial look of that panther below.
I have noticed that often, certain colors can look glowing, especially in bright light. On Phelsuma, certain blues can have that artificial look, more so than in any panther. Phelsuma.mad.mads(a rarer subspecies) exhibits a dark green, that when in peak color, is almost impossibly bright.
My veild, when in bright sunlight especially, displays a tremendous amount of orange. This orange is so bright, that it certainly does appear to glow. I noticed the colors that seemed the most "fake" in that panther were the orange-red colors. I have taken several pictures with 3 different digital cameras,o fmy veild displaying. Indoors, under his normal lights, cameras set to "normal" color do not pick up the colors as they look--the light is NOT bright enough. In the Sun, his orange and yellow are blindingly bright--and look artificial. when I took My camera, and set the color to "vivid-color," I was able to get the pictures to look as if they were taken in bright sunlight.
Indoors, with normal settings, I was unable to get pictures that did him justice. Outdoors, or indoors with vivid color turned on, I could get a picture that showed him as he actually looked.
I believe that it is caused by the yellow/green wavelengths. Bright yellow green is the most visible color to us, and it does have that glowing look.
