This may seem silly, but since Tegu's are about as close that you can get to a domesticated animal, without actually having a domesticated animal, I have been wondering. I'v heard of people teaching their Tegu's what their name is, and also to come when called. Being litter trained, etc.

Is it possible to train Tegu's to understand basic commands? When I reach in to pick up my Tegu (Mig) he usually puffs up to make himself appear bigger and tough. I usually tell him "no" in a calming voice, and then I pick him up. Sometimes when I pick my him up, he squirms around after a minute or so and I try to restrain him by holding the back half of his body(that is what is primarily moving) and I tell him "NO", after a time or two, it seems he listens and stops. Is this possible? Is this a good thing to try and teach a Tegu?

Thanks for your time,
Ralph
