Keeping Savus together?

Nicki Apr 29, 2004 11:54 AM

I am used to keeping Kings and Milks which can be cannibalistic. Can you keep pythons in the same enclosure (feeding seperately of course)? Is there any problems with this?

Thanks!

do you plan on breeing them?, if so i personally would not house them together, and as far as eating each other?, could happen, i personally have water, macklot, olive, and ringed, and i keep mine seperate

I'm wondering, why would you especially NOT keep them together if you plan on breeding? I'd have thought the opposite would be true or that it wouldn't make any difference at all, whether they live together or you just bring them together during breeding season?

Thanks,
Nicki

as far as why i choose not to keep my snakes together, 1 stress, as with most animals the larger scares the smaller and it's health declines, 2 liasis some are known to be canablistic, not all but still the same, 3 if one is sick or parasized you will now have 2 sick lots o money with vets$$$$$$$$$$, 4 in the wild they do not usually live together with a mate, 5 as far as one of my pairs, my water pythons, i need to drop the temps cooler for the male then the female, to let him know it is time to breed, ect, i could go on but wont, i may be wrong and this info is not the word of mosses, cause mothernature is a freak like everone else, lol, things happen i would not like to lose a beautiful snake due to something that can be prevented,

Cool, thanks for your posts!

I LOVE my Savu, and want to make him happy. And I'll admit, if I find a sweet female for him, I'd be thrilled to hear the slither-patter of little savus running around. :D

Your advice makes sense, I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks!
