Substrate idea

Greenwicche Apr 29, 2004 01:30 PM

Has anyone ever used or heard of capillary matting? Apparently you can buy it at garden centers and hardware stores. I guess amphibian keepers have been using it for years as substrate. It holds moisture without being soggy. It's easily cleaned or disposed of, and it's inexpensive.
I'm going to find some and give it a try...I'll let you know how it goes.

Is it in hunks? Igs can get impacted very quickly and die even faster because of impaction. I use vinyl and newspaper for my substrates because the ig cant really get a good bite of it during the day and I change it at night. If it is ingestible I wouldnt try it no matter how much moisture it holds.

It comes in a roll like paper towels and has a smooth surface.
