I care! I Care!
hehe. You should have BEAUTIFUL babies and I sure look forward to seeing pictures of them!
For myself, I've had the usual load of frustrations, spiced by the need for P A T I E N C E
I bred my high white cal king to my Newport (black and very light yellow) "dot dash". They bred last year and produced 8 beautiful babies, one being a gorgeous reverse stripe who, alas, didn't survive hatching as she dragged out her innards. I hope to get one like her this year. Queenie, the female, just shed this afternoon, so hopefully soon I'll have some nice eggs to drool over for sixty days!
The High White was also bred to a black and white banded Cal King with VERY white bands. We hope to get some nicely white babies, and their patterns will be anyone's guess. She's blue and should shed any day.
I bred my Apalachicola female to my Goini male (they bred last year) but she went into an early shed, then started to sneeze when I tried to rebreed her, so I decided to let her miss this year rather than jeapordize her health. But now she's all swelled up, blue, and has given every sign of being gravid, so I haven't given up, but I don't expect anything either.
And to round out my Kingsnake breeding this year... I have my Arizona Mountain King in with her boyfriend, and I am expecting eggs in 30 to 45 days depending on when they actually "do the deed".
Next year I'll be adding two more cal kings to my group of breeders, and one male. The females were too small this year, just didn't grow like some of my other cal kings, so they are waiting until next year.
I think that by themselves snakes are addicting, but once you factor in watching the little guys hatch... it's incurable!
