I am so sorry to hear about your little guy! I know you didn't have him long but it can still be hard. I was attached to mine before he was even sent! Good luck with the new little guy. I hope he makes it to your home okay.

I purchased my first trio of Russian torts from LLL Reptile. They were/are wonderful and healthy. I know it must be so discouraging to have one arrive and not survive for any time at all. I'm sorry for you and the tort. I'm glad that they are replacing without hassle your tortoise and, hopefully, this one will be full of vigor and health. Russians are terrific pets.

Sorry about the tort. Some of them just can't take the stress of capture, holding pens, shipping to a dealer and then finally ending up being shipped to you. Someday hopefully more captive bred ones will be available leaving the imported animals for those breeders who want to keep a lot of active bloodlines.

Glad LLL is making good on it though. I had a damaged ceramic heatlamp come from them and they replaced it immediately and no questions asked. It is nice to have businesses out there that care about the customer.

My advice to you with the next (no matter how healthy it looks) is to get a stool sample from it and take that sample to the vet so that they can see if he is carrying any parasites and what course of treatment you should use in the event that he does.

Best of luck with your next one.

Steve
