What age (or size) to move them into larger cages?

Amanda E Apr 30, 2004 01:27 PM

I'm going to be getting a young crested soon and I will be housing him initially in a Kritter Keeper measuring 12" x 8" x 8".

What I would like to know is at what point will he be too big to be comfortable in the Kritter Keeper?

I already have a 15" x 12" x 21" cage for when I need to move him, I just don't know when that is.

Thanks.

I'd say a medium Critter Keeper (that's the one approx. 12x8x8) would be perfectly fine until the gecko is about 15-20 grams...or about the size where a male would start to develop its hemipenal bulge. I'm not sure what length that is because I don't measure my geckos, but off the top of my head, I'd say that's about 3.5-4" snout to vent.
