Boa will not eat! Any suggestions?

Hi,
I have a 4 1/2 foot male pastel boa and for some reason he wont eat. I tried live all he did was avoid it. i tried pre killed and he puts his nose up to it then backs away and goes in the corner. What can i do to get him to eat? he hasent eatin for 3 wks.

It could be a couple of things.
1) My males seem to stop eating when they're wanting to be with a female. Although this normally isn't the time of year for that, indoor climates can confuse them.
2) I assume that he normally eats rats. If so try something else, like a mouse, or other rodent, even if it's smaller than your normal feeder, it might turn the feeding switch on. I've had males stop eating for a couple months for no particular reason, but they've never refused a baby chick -- ever.
You've got plenty of time to figure this out. Try different things. leave something that's pre-killed in it's cage overnight. You also might want to try to see if its mouth has any swollen, or tender looking areas. I hope it all works out for you.
