Lost Snake

spangles Apr 30, 2004 04:16 PM

Yesterday my rat snake found a way out of her cage (it was a temperary cage that was used before and she managed to get through my tape up job) and after much searching and crying, as well as one night to see if she showed up on her own, we have found no sign of her. I left a box with a live mouse in a cage at the back of it, as well as a blanket out in hopes that she will come back. Anyone else have any ideas for finding her? Please help!!

We lost a hatchling last year, and never found her. However in the process I recieved all sorts of suggestions of things that worked for other people:
Put numerous snake sized Hides around where you think she may be. Check frequently.
Loud Bass vibrations from a stereo have been known to disturb and flush snakes.
Put water bowls on the floor and surround them with a sprinkling of flour. You should be able to tell which one she visited.
Don't restrict your search to the room she vanished in. Snakes can travel far. I've had people tell me both that they tend to travel downward and upward.
Do you have a cat? Cats can hear things that people can't. Invite your heavily supervised cat into the room and check any area she seems very interested in.
Invite the most snake phobic person you know over for the weekend. They will find her in the bathroom at an indelicate moment.

Seriously, good Luck and I hope you find her soon.
