Hi I was wondering if anyone here keeps leopard, pickeral, or green frogs. If so can you give me some general information (diet, housing, etc.) on keeping them.
Any information would be gretly appreciated.
Thanx

I raised three leos from tadpoles. Once morphed you want a good 15 gallons per frog, 1/2 land 1/2 water (about 3 or 4 inches deep) They spend a lot of time in the water and in hiding. They are nocternal. Depending on where you live, no special heating or lighting is needed. (Unless you have live plants then you'll want lighting for that) Make sure to provide lots of hidding spots and a bedding like Bed A Beast because they do bury themselves during the day. They will eat crickets, flies, meal worms(only offer ocassionally because they are VERY high in fat), earth worms and such. Make sure that the prey offered is no bigger than the frogs head is wide. If you are adding rocks to the set up make wure that they are too large to be swallowed (or you will have real trouble!) Feed them every other day and about every 3rd feeding dust the prey with calcium powder.
Leos are very beautiful frogs and a lot of fun to watch (if you are up at night to see them) but can be quite jumpy and nervouse so be sure to cover all three sides of the tank with some kind of backing to keep them from smaking against the glass to escape.
If I have missed anything, I'm sure the great people here will add it!!!
Hope this helps!!

Heather, whatever happened to your leos? I followed them from tads to frogs, then they disappeared from the forum. You got a lot of other cool frogs along the way, but I was wondering what happened to your Leos?
My Leos have become teachers!!! They are in a posh setup in a classroom being loved on by a wonderful group of children who are having a great time learning about their lives and keep. I was getting updates on them about every other week or so and had been by to visit them a couple times before school let out for summer. The kids just think they are the coolest things since video games (a direct quote from one of the boys in the class) and they are all taking such wonderful care of them!!! They are now being kept at the teachers house (one of my neighbors) and will be taken back to the classroom when school starts back up again!

I have one leopard frog and one green frog. Both are over two years old. They make great captives, and will live nice long lives if cared for properly. I have each one in its own thirty-gallon-long aquarium, with a half land/half water setup. They like enough water so they can submerge. There are lots of caresheets on these species on the net. I would recommend both, and also the green frogs tend to call often (if it is a male) and everytime I'm doing dishes, the green frog hears the pans rattling in the sink, thinks it's another frog, and answers the call
