ericchen Apr 30, 2004 11:26 PM

i got my baby blizzards...and altho one ate last night...he/she didn't eat today...and the other one just hasn't ate...i have a petri dish of about 10 worms that i leave at night...they aren't hatchlings...they are about 2 month olds...they were originally fed mealworms so i don't know what the problem is...i know im stressing out and they just arrived yesterday so i should give them a few days...should i leave the dish in there?...and what size would they eat...they are about 4-5 inches...how long does it usually take for your animals after being shipped to eat?..this is the first time ive bought online...and although the transaction was smooth its been a traumatic 2 nights...please help!!! ANY comments/advice greatly appreciated in advance!! if any of u had experience rearing a baby blizzy..please tell me exactly how u go about feeding it..i know it might not work for me but i just want some references!

Hey!

If I were you, I wouldn't stress it! Since they've only arrived yesterday it could take even up to 2 weeks for them to decide they want to eat! Butttttt, that's not that common. My little Blizz, Dream, took between 3-5 days before she warmed up to me and decided to eat. Just take the food out and let the little guys adjust. ^^

You can try offering food each day until they "cave". Remember, keep phsyical contact to a minimum, if any at all-- It only adds to the stress! Good luck with your babies and keep up posted!

LOL just leave them alone a for a while, let them get more accustomed to their new enviroment, blizzars are known to be voracious eaters so dont worry dude, just leave em along for a week then try feeding

dont sweat that, everyone worries, just give em a week, dont touch them or feed them, the only time you should disturbe them is when you need to change their water, blizzards are skittish by nature but will eventually calm as they get older, i promise they will eat sometime next week

ericchen May 01, 2004 01:57 AM

okay...ill trust ur advice...however won't they starve and become really skinny?

LOL, thanks! Yeah, I learned that Raine isn't a Tang, but oh well.. He has some tang on him, but I guess not enough to be considered a "Tangerine Albino". And yes.. I LOVE my PetCo, LOL. I think I should pay it a visit soon, actually.. >_>

Even though I said "No more babies.. Not for now..".. I might end up leaving with Ron's little brother or sister.

I'm glad you liked my site! And, yes, just take the food away for now. We(Tokay_Dude1 and me) promise your leos will not waste away, lol. Just try feeding them every day(Or other day), they will eat!

Try both and see which one works, some leos are not very keen on eating out of a dish, so just try both, and see which one goes better

ericchen May 01, 2004 02:39 AM

what do you feed your geckos?

Hey,

I feed my leopard geckos a staple diet of mealworms(Gutloaded, of course). I coat them in a calcium powder most every day to ensure strong bones. Vitamin/Mineral powder is recommended but usually only once or twice a week. I offer crickets on ocasion for a variety because mealworms are quieter(No noise at all actually, lol), contain more fat content and are cleaner(Hardly any risk of internal parasites). Hope this helps some. Good luck!

Nope, I just drop my mine down and wait until they finish that one and move onto the next-- But this is only because I have three leopard geckos and can easily keep track of what they eat. If I had a few more leos I would more then likely dish-feed them. Both ways work!
