echo,
. That looks like a beautiful vivarium. It also looks like you are shining a bright light on a nocturnal animal that does not like bright light. The light is also heating the middle of the cage. It is usually best to set up cages with a thermal gradient with one END of the cage cooler and the other END warmer. That way the snake can find a part of the cage that is at it's preferred temperature. And one last thing, I promise, does that tank have a screen top? If so, it is may let too much humidity escape from the cage.
Good luck,
Jeff

Jeff - Thanks for the comments but to further explain the set-up id like to know that the light was for the picture

i usually have a nocturnal bulb on there, and open my blinds to my huge window to let him see some light durring the day hours. I just had the light ther so you could better see inside the tank. but other than the snake, that much light would kill the plants. as for placement if i were to put the light off to one side to demonstrate proper lighting methods, how would i show off the lovely Bromeliad? ha

finally i do have a screen top on there but i mist the cage regularly and he has a large water bowl thats always filled. So the humidity usually stay up pretty good.

thanks for the tips though, glad to see someones looking out for fellow herpers

Here is a pic of my vivarium (micro habitat) that houses my het for "calico" Brazilian Rainbows. Note the "mating ball" in the corner. It is 6' X 3'X3'. It houses 2.3 very comfortably.

I can't wait to do something like that for my collection...

How's the cleanup with so many snakes together and all of that wood in there?

I have a feeling you either are immune to the fecal smell or have to clean fairly often.

Still a beautiful setup.

Thats what pooper scoopers are for! Also you scoop the wood and sphagnum up around it and disguard it. I completely change the substrate once a year and do any maintainance to the cages. There is vitually no smell! They have been in there since they were juvies. The only time I used to see them was at feeding time.

I only have one BRB in there, all of my other snakes have their own cages. As far as smell, I spot clean every morning when i change their water and mist them down. I do another poo check in the evening when they get sprayed again. i take everything out and change the substraght about every month and a half, just because i dont like how the bedding gets a little crappy after a while. I ve never had a peoblem with smell though
