Constipation??

eric adrignola Jun 15, 2003 09:09 PM

My female Deremensis is really fat, but I'm not sure if it's eggs, or constapation. The last turd I found was a bit small, but she hadn't eaten much for the week. This past few days, she's eaten and drank a lot(including a large, shed , hissing roach). but so far, I have seen no sign of a cloacal movement, urates included. IF she is constipated, what have you tried that has worked? I was considering giving her some Agar chunks, that I normally hydrate my insects with. Agar is supposedly a remedy for constipation, and I think it would be more gentle than anything else.

Have you tried putting her in a warm shower for about 30 minutes to make sure she is hydrated? Seems to cause movements in my animals when they get their weekly shower. Hope this helps.

Constipation can be caused by dehydration and sometimes it can be caused by overdoing supplements.
Look in the chameleonjournals.com and there is a very good article about over supplementation causing constipation and causing animals to stop eating.
