I decided to buy the Amel I asked about the other day. He is a pretty snake - very yellow.

I held him before I purchased, I even held him when I brought him home. Later in the evening we got him out and he was fine for about 30 seconds, and then he went nuts - hissing, rattling his tale and even musked (??) all over us.
I am sure he was scared. He has been housed in a Rubbermaid box with opaque sides for at least a year. I brought him home and put him in a tank without adequate hiding space. And then we, the human predators, grabbed him. Must be scary.

I did not know these little buggers could, or did musk. Any suggestions for getting that smell off of our skin? We have washed and washed and still smell like a stinky snake. Help!

Any suggestions beyond patience for taming this fella?
Thanks
Shari

Many snakes can musk. Copperheads and cottnmouths can (learned that one the hard way...Had a cottonmouth projectile musk in my face). You can try baking soda or lemon juice. I use those mostly for fishing after gutting fish, as that smells worse than almost any musk. Andy
