What are some good ways of maintaining humidity in a tank? I have a glass tank with a wood/mesh top. Substrate of dirt.

Get rid of the mesh top for starters and have some moisture in the substrate. Glass tanks lose heat very quickly and are not generally the best unless you are in a warm climate.

Well, the average daytime temperature around here is around 30 degrees celsius reaching peaks of 35. Plexi-glass? Will normal acrylic sheets do?

30-35C or 85-95F is warm enough glass would be ok as long as you can provide a cooler spot for the monitor to escape the heat if they want. Plexiglass - acrylic, pretty much the same.

replace the mesh with plexi glass with a vent on top.
