Pinkys, kingworms, silkworms, nightcrawlers, goldfish, roaches, grasshoppers to name a few.

Bassies love fish, they will even catch them in their pond. Variety is the key to healthy eating, but those are all good staples.

excelent point, variety is the spice of life, as there are very few species that will eat only one food item. i have fed my lizards, butter worms, goliath worms, silk worms, mice, rats, fish, super worms, wax worms, and the list goes on and on and on.

Anything but the fish, too many fish will depleat (I think its vitam A) from your reptile. The key is to mix it up. Frozen pinkys are always a good think to have kicking around for when ya don't wanna make a trip to the pet store. The gold fish are just a type of goldfish, usually called commets, they don't live very long so ya can't really stock up on them.

are u sure there's only one kind of gold fish that i can feed him? i was looking at some basilisk care sheets and one of them said that you can feed them any small fish.

thanks,
rachel

You can feed them guppies, minnows and rosie reds, and if it says "Feeder Goldfish" there is all sorts of goldfish in there even koi.

Usually the "commets" are the cheap feeder "gold fish" you get at a pet store. The minnows , in my area, aren't usually available, the gold are like 10 cent each. Guppys are too small to make it worth it. I tried to breed swordtails for food, but that didn't pay off. Mine can't catch em in her pool, but on the ground, it a good time to watch the chase!!!
