WHY DO PEOPLE DO IT!!!?
Assuming you're referring to panther chameleons being cross-locale-bred, I'd say at least half of the time it's by accident. Another time it is when 2 teenagers, one with a female, one with a male (different locale) wanna see what chameleon sex looks like. Then there's always the people that want to be creative.

Dennis,
I ask myself the same questions and didn't like what I turned up. A few of us decided to do something about it and created the Captive Chameleon Bloodline Tracking Database (CCBTD) at www.chameleondatabase.com. It was just profiled on the Chameleons! E-Zine too at www.chameleonnews.com. Interestingly, in Ferguson et. al.'s new F. pardalis book, they give strong credibility to the scientific backing of such breeding concern.
