Some of my co workers think I'm nuts having 4 snakes. I brought my python in to show everyone in the back kennel where I work and they all loved her. The co workers in the front office think it's nasty, creepy and slimy! It was great watching them squirm as I held my python on my shoulders!

As far as hiding places.....my corns LOVE paper towel rolls. So does my milk.If you lay a fake plant over the end...they love that to. They feel secure. I also have different boxes for hides. They are cheap. Kleenex boxes work great. You can cut them down and make a small opening on the side. I also have a first aid bandaid box for my milk. He loves that. I use a shoe box for my python. I think anything will work. But they do need something in there enclosure that is rough so they can rub on it to help them shed.

Snakes like hides that are big enough to get in/under, but small enough to be fairly "snug" ...For the little ones, paper towell or toilet paper rolls (I cut mine in half lengthwise so the snake is under it instead of in it) are great. I have plastic bowls, bark that has been heat-treated, the lid to a tupperware container...you name it. Give your new pet 2 or 3 hides and see which one s/he likes best. Don't be alarmed if s/he hides almost all the time...especially at first.
Yeah...Some folks freak out about the snakes. As the kids grow up they (and their friends) will probably think they are pretty cool. Enjoy, and welcome to the hobby. Duffy
