Wax Worms?????????

heartmountain May 01, 2004 10:30 PM

Hey guys, so how do you keep waxworms in their container??? I use the 48qt steralite containers, but I'm not dead set on them and if something else works better I'd switch. I've got no problem getting them to reproduce, it's keeping in the babies that I can't seem to do. First I tried taping down the lid, the whole thing fermented into mead and killed them all. Ok, so I need more ventalation. So next I tried taping a sheet across the top so there would be air flow, the little bastards ate right through it like it wasn't even there. So what's the trick? Something that would be easy for me to get into would be nice also. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I pulled out half the bedding tonight and put it in tupperware containers and stuck it in the fridge. My hope is that this will slow down the development of that batch, am I right in thinking this?

Thanks
Sean

not sure how small baby wax worms are, but how about fine aluminum screen or metal mosquito netting?

I know it works for roaches that can climb glass but i'm not sure about wax worms. Try Bug Stop.
