Chameleon turned white...

feuerwolf May 02, 2004 12:31 AM

Um... Is this normal? He's suprisingly more active than normal. Still the sweetheart he's been since I've had him, but he's always been real chill and slow-paced until today. He'snot like over the top hyper or anything, just kinda faster. But why did he turn white? I thought he was dead until I went over and checked on him to make sure he was okay, at which point he very willingly climbed on my hand(he's a pygmy leaf cham) and started climbing up my arm. Is he okay or what? Thanks!!!

could be shedding?

Nancy-

He could be shedding or over heated. When chameleons shed there skin they will turn a white color. Also when a chameleon is stressed from being to hot they will fade there colors. Hope this helps!

I have to tell you, that one time my cham Zoe went in to (what the vet believes) respiratory arrest.
His colour faded to white with small amount of yellow remaining, and he was unresponsive for a few moments.

Shedding is fairly obvious. I don't know if your cham stayed white, or if his normal colours returned when he became active again.
Zoes did, once he became responsive again.

Good luck to you and your cham.
