Taming down a nasty little bugger!

cv768 May 02, 2004 12:37 AM

Well, we've had this little iguana for about 3 months now and we think she's so great...the problem is that she doesn't think so highly of us!

She loves to tail whip when given any chance and she'll occasionally try to bite if she is annoyed enough.

We try to just give her regular handling but it doesn't seem to calm her down.

Anyone have some suggestions on taming a 1 year old (approximately) iguana?

Thanks.

Well keep handling the ig. We got ours about 2 months ago and it is tolerant only to my son (it's his ig)to pick him/her up. When its out he/she will allow us to hold or pet it. If it likes were it is at it will try or even tail whip us. Opens its mouth too. We say firmly no biting or tail and it calms down. Keep it up and it should get better.
Thats what everyone tells us.

Hi not sure if i have many suggestions except to just keep handleing him/her. I have found with my Ozzy his bark is bigger than his bite so to speak. lol He plays all big and bad like he is going to tail whip or occasionally acts like he is going to bite, but if i just go ahead and pick him up, he doesnt do anything. They can be big bluffers, but of course always be on guard for a bite. In the 2 years or so i have had ozzy he has only bit once. But when im handleing him im always watching his head, just in case. So just keep on with what your doing. Tami
