i recently acquired 3 wc western chucks and have had some trouble feeding them. i geuss theyre used to mainly eating creosote out in the desert.any way i was wondering if any of u people who own chucks could help me. what do your chuckwallas prefer best.i have tried all kinds of stuff but they dont seem to be eating enough. they eat but very little. ive fed them lettuce, spinach, rose petals, cabbage, tomatoes, string beens,
snap peas, carrots, lettuce, and some fruits but i have found something that they really like to eat that much of.

A few favorites,
**** Dandelion greens, and yellow Flower part they love !!
rose petals,
lillies
butter cups
cats claw(a mimic dandelion) *
Alot of outside greens, that HAVE NOT BEEN TREATED WITH POISONS !

These I buy each week, mine love
collard greens
kale,
shredded carrots
shredded sweet potato

Keep trying veggies,

I don't treat my lawn, so right now I'm picking alot of greens, they eat every bit, especially dandelion flowers and greens!

small pieces of banana, dont know if the wc's will go for it, but both my guys love it !

The rest of the crew here will probably have alot more ideas for you, with the wild caughts.

Give Tom Greb a holler or dvl they have both had alot of experience and can better help with WC'S

Best of luck !

How long have you had them?
How old are they?

How big is your set up? Do you have enough hiding places for the 3 of them so they don't stress each other out? What is your set up like? What are your temps.?

It took mine about a week to get used to the new set up, but mine were CB.

They love chopped green beans, honey suckle flowers, dandilions, fresh peas, read leafed lettuce, collards, prickly pear cactus fruit, and a variety. I try and offer 3-4 things each day. They eat in the late afternoon typically. After a while mine get choosey and will boycot certain foods for a while, only to eat them a month or 2 later. Go figure!
