Is Mr. Iggy Strange?

Wonder_mutt May 02, 2004 04:24 AM

Mr. Iggy is a 5'-5 1/2' Green Iguana that I adopted a short time ago, and he does something I have never seen one do before. I have only been exposed to a handful of Iguanas and none were as tame as him. When I put my hand in the cage to rub him he acts like a cat/dog, meaning that he leans closer to my hand and will raise his chin for me to rub under his neck. He does this when he is out of the cage too. So is this odd behavior?

That's the best! Grass (2 y.o. male) does the same thing. Stretches his neck for pets & then just closes his eyes & blisses out.

Uh, I mean, if he's in a good mood :P

Nope i dont think he is strange, just sounds like a Iggy who has been handled alot. So thats a good thing. Better than what i get when i go to get Ozzy out of his cage, he will either go into psycho lizard mode and do laps around his cage or he decides to play statue, and just freezes. So i would say enjoy your iggy he sounds very tame.

Forest does the same kind of thing. Really leans into those pats & rubs.

In fact he leans into them so much that if I take my hand away quickly the fella almost falls over.

Too funny. You have a well loved ig. Congrats.
