So, my 6 month old male veiled chameleon is an excellent creature. He is really healthy, active and always a pleasure to observe. His housing (which was upgrading to a 2ftx2ftx3ft last week) contains some fake branches and some plants which hang from the top of the encloser. Lighting is a 60 watt regular light bulb and a halogen strip. Overall cage temp is around 70 degress and the basking temp is around 90 degress. He receives warm water from a spray bottle twice a day, he also has a drip system which constantly gives him fresh water droplets. His diet contains, crickets and mealworms but no fruits and veggies! I have no idea what I am doing wrong when it comes to fruits and veggies, I dice em' up and put them by his favorite places and he just ignores them. I have offered him strawberries, blueberries, bananas, cantelope, watermeleon, and lettuce but he hasn't touched any of it. I think what might also be a problem is that he has no live plants in his encloser, but i was alittle cautious on that topic. Would any veiled owners reccomend some good indoor plants that I can add to his encloser? and can anyone help me try and get my cham to notice his fruits? Any comments are most appreciated
Thank you very much!

Phibia5-

Some eat them others dont! Lele has some good ideas you can try, Im sure she will post them. As for your lighting I dont see and UVB bulb in yout list of things on the cage? If you dont already have one, get one. Your chance of MBD is high with veileds. As for the plants, common plants like pothos, ficus, and dwarf umbrellas will be good. Hope this helps!

Phibia5,
I do something to get my male vieled to eat something beside bugs might work for you. What I do is get a pair of hemostats. Then I lightly grip whatever I want him to eat. Then I move the hemostat around as if it were a flailing bug. This usually gets him interested enough to stick his tongue out. I usually just stick the food item to his tongue when he exposes it, but that is just to make sure he gets it. Hope this helps, Josh

My veiled likes strawberries stuck on the vines, like they were growing there, I use small whole ones. He also loves pothos leaves. I tried ficus but those rotted and died..the pothos is perfect! all my chameleons have their very own pothos.
