Veiled afraid of silkworms

veiledcham May 02, 2004 11:00 AM

I have a veiled 11 weeks old and today I tried to feed him a silkworm and he ran up the screen hissing. Is there any way I can get him to eat the silkworms.

Hi-

When we started our Ambilobe babies off on silkworms, we placed a few on near by branches. We then added a few to their feeding cups along with pinheads. After a few days the babies were picking off the silkworms before the pinheads. Now they are hand feeding with ease. We don't work with veileds, but they to should accept tiny silkworms. Movement by the worm helps, once they get that first bite, they will be back for more! Hope this helps!
